Cumming Newborn Photographer

One of my favorite things about being a Cumming Newborn Photographer is that I get to meet and snuggle so many precious little ones.  They each have such different personalities and react differently to different poses.  Some babies love to be on their backs, others love love love to be wrapped.  This little munchkin was pretty much up for anything.  And she was such a little peanut at 5lbs 10oz at birth.  I normally use a lot of neutral colors (tan, grey, brown) but I decided to step out of my comfort zone with one of the setups and I have to admit I really love the way that it turned out!!!  I may use more color every now and again 🙂

What to expect from your Newborn Session with me?

Not all photographers are right for all clients.  I truly believe that if you are looking for a photographer that utilizes a lot of detailed prop setups and bright colors, I am not your photographer.  My hope is that you look at the work in my galleries and in my blog posts and love what you see.  I love neutral palettes and texture in a monochromatic style.  I may throw caution to the wind and add some color (think jewel or pastel tones).  I want your baby to look natural, comfortable and cozy.  After you contact me either through my Contact Me page here or email me at hello@kimterryphotography.com, and we determine that we’re a good fit for one another, I’ll send you a link to a contract/booking form and session retainer.  And then my work begins.  From that moment (based on the questionnaire you fill out) I start to plan for your session, from the props that I’ll use to the hats and/or headbands and backdrop colors.

Sessions typically last anywhere from 2-4 depending totally on baby.  Some newborns are rockstar sleepers and we won’t see their eyes open the entire session and some babies need to extra love and time.  Each and every baby is different so that’s the reason for the time range.  Expect the studio to be VERY warm.  I keep the temperature between 78-80° since babies will be naked for some of the session.  Just remember they were in the womb and it was a balmy 98°.  I will go through a variety of setups with different props, wraps and hats/bonnets.  If you want to capture family and/or sibling shots we will do those poses first so that you can relax/nap for the remainder of the session!
